For the PeaceHealth Mission and Values campaign series, this short film spotlighted the phlebotomy team at Peace Health Sedro Wooley, highlighting how individual departments actively embody the core ethos of the hospital. The series exists to scale awareness around frontline teams whose everyday dedication inspires fellow caregivers to perform at their absolute best, while illustrating precisely what the organization stands for. On paper, the central premise revolved around a procedural shift from butterfly needles to straight needles for routine blood draws, a common sense choice that prevented injuries and created substantial financial and clinical efficiencies. Translating clinical protocols and supply chain logistics into an engaging narrative requires strong storytelling, and this piece proved how deeply human stories can transform even the most utilitarian subject matter into something vibrant.
While thoughtful planning laid the foundation for the piece, the real spark happened on set when working directly with the phlebotomy team. The department was full of vibrant personalities whose natural humor and warmth brought genuine magic to the screen. Directing the piece became a dance of embracing spontaneous, unscripted interactions and letting their camaraderie carry the narrative weight. Those serendipitous moments transformed what could have been a dry technical briefing into a lively, character driven film that is as entertaining as it is meaningful.
